Civilization collapsed beneath a rising tide… Now, the few survivors scavenge the ruins of their former world, driven by fear, hunger, and the flickering hope that somewhere, someone was able to cling on to life most took for granted.
Welcome to The Dark Archives Volume I: Zombie Reign.
Zombie Reign is a survival-horror supplement for the Shadowdark RPG. A copy of the Shadowdark Quickstart rules will be needed to play. These rules can be found on The Arcane Library website and DriveThruRPG for free.
Game Masters can choose from six different origins of the outbreak which affects the campaign tone and gameplay.
· Viral: A weaponized pathogen or lab-borne disease.
· Technological: Rogue AI or corrupted nanotech.
· Fungal: Parasitic spores that puppeteer the living.
· Supernatural: Curses, necromancy, or demonic influence.
· Toxic Chemical: Industrial decay turned biological horror.
· Extraterrestrial: Eradication by an alien intelligence from beyond the stars.
Another choice is whether the infected are living abominations or the reanimated corpses of the dead.
The supplement introduces four new classes, backgrounds, flaws, fear, carousing system, monsters, encounter tables, armor, weapons, equipment and a resolve and despair mechanic.
